It was a super busy around my house this weekend. My daughter Claire turned nine yesterday!!! She had 8 of her friends over for her party and she had a great time. I will give you a great idea if you are hosting a bunch of 8/9 year olds. Just let them play with your old makeup, eye shadow, lip liner, lip gloss, blush, etc… and that will be half the party.
I planned for part of the party to have them decorate cupcakes, but they didn’t turn out. My mistake? I used a mix from a box, and I didn’t have oil, so I used butter instead and they were too moist and completely fell apart! So, on to plan B, I made giant chocolate chip cookies and they decorated those.
I had frosting, Mike and Ike’s, lots of sprinkles, etc… The girls pretended to have a cooking contest with that.
But, the highlight of the weekend for me? Claire got her ears pierced! We went to Claire’s boutique. I was nervous, I wasn’t sure how she was going to react, but she did awesome! She didn’t even flinch!

Rights of passage… i remember when my daughter got hers done. The look on her face when that first one went in is something I will never forget.

I just had all sorts of birthday pajama party memories come flooding back while reading this. Between the party and the ear piercing this is certain the be a birthday that neither you or Claire forget!

Aww happy birthday to your daughter! She is adorable! My mom got my ears pierced when I was about a month old so I didn’t have much of a choice! But I think I would have chosen to anyway. The decorate-your-own-cookie idea is perfect for a kids’ party!
The highlight of my weekend was seeing my neice. I don’t see her much so it was extra special. I spent the night with her Fri. and watched her all day Sat. while her parents worked. The hightlight of this weekend will be celebrating her 2nd birthday!! I can’t wati!!
