Cheerios Challenge
One of the reasons for me starting this blog, and watching what I am eating and trying to lose weight is because I went to the doctor this past spring to have my blood glucose checked because my twin sister is diabetic, and my dad was diabetic (he passed away 10 years ago of throat cancer). As I was in the doctors office and he was drawing my blood I asked him just by happenstance to check my cholesterol too since I had never had it checked before. I got the results a few days later. My blood glucose was fine, but my cholesterol was through the roof! I couldn’t believe it. I felt fine. That’s the thing with cholesterol and diabetes for that matter. Unless you get it checked, you can go a long time without even knowing it. I recently relieved an e-mail from a woman who saw my site who works at a public relations firm in Chicago and informed me of the Cheerios Challenge. This is what she writes: “I am so impressed that you are sharing your own weight loss journey with others. Your slogan “Eating right starts in the cart” is something I definitely agree with. By incorporating Cheerios into that cart, you can lower your cholesterol. In fact, a clinical study found that eating two 1 1/2 cup servings of Cheerios daily for 6 weeks reduced bad cholesterol an average of 4 percent as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol.”
She continues…
“Your readers can become participants of the Cheerios Challenge by pledging to lower their cholesterol 4 percent in 6 weeks and can receive weekly e-mails with heart healthy diet tips, coupons and ongoing inspiration at www.cheerioschallenge.com”
So, I signed up! You can too! I love Cheerios and its nice to have as a snack in the afternoon with some yogurt or with a banana. I’ll continue on my healthy journey and getting my cholesterol in check and if I can eat things I like, then it makes it that much easier!
