This is my son Paul. He’s 12 and he’s fantastic! The kids are off school today because of a school institute day, and Paul decided to make his own soup. I was folding laundry in another room and I asked him if he needed any help and he said no. When he was done, this is the soup he came up with! The steam kind of made the picture kind of blurry, but I tasted it and it was really good! He used:
- 1 can chicken broth
- 1 jalapeno, diced
- 1/4 onion, sliced
- a few ounces of cooked Italian sausage
- 1 tsp. carraway seeds
- 1 tsp. oregano
- black pepper to taste
- 1 tsp. thyme
- 1 carrot, sliced
Add all the ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil, then simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the carrots are kind of soft. It’s kind of nice that he’s learning how to cook so he won’t be relying on pre-packaged foods when he is on his own some day!
That’s quite an advanced list of ingredients for 12!!! I don’t think I even knew what carraway seeds were… grilled cheeses were more at my level back then. haha
I know right? He’s the exact opposite in the kitchen than me, he just throws thing in, where I always like to refer to a recipe!
Wow, he is quite the cook in the kitchen! Tasty soup!
Cool!
Che bella! Una zuppa fatta in casa con “oggetti trovati”!
Do you loan Paul out for frosty winter days? We could use a good soup here.
Tom, I’m sure if the price is right! ;0)
I shall not be sold….. wait. for how much?
