This year my office brought back something we haven’t done in several years….a cooking contest!! Of course I was super excited and we decided to have a Halloween/Fall cooking contest.
You could made whatever you wanted and whichever was the office favorite wins a $20.00 Starbucks gift card!
Their were 8 entries this year. I looked up lots of recipes but in the end since I was running out of time, I made something easy!
I made white chocolate dipped pretzel rod ghosts. My face skillz were a little lacking. The inspiration for these were from this site..but she used an edible pen to make the faces, I just used chocolate and a toothpick! I thought they were cute though!
These by far, were the scariest of the bunch!! My friend Jennifer made bleeding heart cupcakes! The outside was fondant, the “blood” was a raspberry sauce, and the inside was red velvet cake. AMAZINGLY creative!!!
My friend John made worms in a cup…these were delish! Chocolate pudding, crushed cookies and who doesn’t love gummie worms?
My friend Chris made Slow-cooked Moroccan short ribs! I’ve never had a stew with so much depth of flavors before, it was fantastic! He had this simmering in a crock pot all morning, and I certainly came over to visit him several times during the morning, just to see how it was coming along and to get a sniff of that delicious stew. His whole crock pot was empty afterwards! My friend Cathy of Noble Pig made a variation of that recipe here:
My friend Neal made little bones out of mini marshmallows, pretzel sticks dipped in white chocolate – so cool!
My friend Amy made absolutely delicious pumpkin squares. She was the ultimate winner – I did go back for seconds of these pumpkin squares, I’ll have to get the recipe and post it later, because these would be a hit at any Thanksgiving party – Congrats Amy!!!
My friend Brian made these awesome chocolate truffles, so flavorful. This plate was gone in no time flat!
My friend Shannon made tasty caramel cupcakes. They were so moist and flavorful!
And to top things off, I was able to run out at lunch and see my daughter in her Halloween parade at school. She’s a dead bride this year.
So, there was just one overall winner for the Cooking Contest, but I am going to ask if there can be a second winner on Monday for most creative since that would definitely go to Jennifer with the bleeding heart cupcakes!
Happy Halloween weekend everyone!!!!
The ghosts are great, will have to remember those next year. Those bleeding heart cupcakes are so cool, wow how creative. I was at the parade this year too, sorry I missed you!
Love the idea of this contest . . . not that I can cook but if I still worked in an office instead of at home I’d be all over this idea.
And Claire’s hair awesome! Love her scary costume.
Oh, and those bleeding heart cupcakes are incredible!
Fun stuff! I love all the creativity and how each entry was so different!!
The contest sounds SO fun!!! I too love the bleeding heart cupcakes and your ghost sticks are wonderful!! Happy Halloween!!!
