This is for all you office workers out there who succumb to the vending machine….
Even though I try to be good through out the day and pass by all the donuts, leftovers from luncheons, cake, etc… there are days where I will admit, I may get a bag of M & M’s. I don’t even need it, but sometimes when you know something is there you just want it more?
Anyway, I saw an ad somewhere about Healthy Vending. It’s a company that stocks vending machines with really healthy alternatives than Snickers or Hostess Ho Ho’s!
I asked my bosses if we have a contract with the existing vending company. To my delight, it had already expired, so I proposed my new plan of getting this totally deluxe, help me keep on my weight loss goal, vending machine, and it was APPROVED!!
What kind of products do they carry? You can customize the vending machine you get but some examples are: Luna bars, Lara bars, Cliff bars, Soy Joy, Kashi Go Lean bars, Pirates Booty, Soy Crisps, Stacy’s Pita chips, granola, dried fruit, fruit bars, meal replacement bars, vitamin water, etc..
Isn’t that awesome? It may take a few weeks or more for us to actually get it, a meeting is planned for next week, but just knowing its coming makes me very happy!
Now, maybe you can suggest the same thing at your office!

This recipe I printed out a LONG time ago from Spark People, but never bothered to try. And I’m kind of mad I didn’t try it before because its really good!
Ingredients
4 frozen bananas
Directions
Place frozen bananas in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse several times to break into smaller pieces, then turn on and run for about 5 minutes, stopping occassionally to scrape down the sides. The bananas will start to resemble soft serve ice cream. You can put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes, or eat it just like that, adding a few nuts and chocolate sauce!
Makes 4 (1/2) cup servings
Great idea! I no longer work in an office setting, but would have loved to see a healthy vending machine:)
I have bananas in my freezer right now and a new food processor…this dessert is calling my name.
Wow, that vending machine sounds like a lifesaver! Love your initiative in getting it into your office, Jenn – can’t wait to hear how you and your co-workers like it!
The banana ice cream sounds great, and I love a recipe that is E-A-S-Y easy!
wow! i am so amazed that your office approved switching vending machines so quickly. that’s awesome. we dont have a vending machine at my office but we do have plenty of candy, treats and cupcakes. i bring my own snacks all the time so i can try to stay on track!!
I think ALL junk vending machines should be removed and healthy ones should replace them. Haha… There should also be peace on earth too huh! I really do love the concept though! I can never find anything healthy in a normal machine and usually just end up with pretzels!
Love that nanner soft serve! It’s good with chocolate chips on the top 🙂
Really cool! Way to go! Now if they’ll put them in schools instead of contracting lunches out to McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut…
I’ve seen that soft serve recipe a ton too! It’s so funny to think it can resemble ice cream!
The frozen banana ice cream is awesome! And very neat about the healthy vending machine!
Wow! Way to be pro-active about your work time eating habits. In my old office we used to get 4 dozen Pick-A-Bagel’s delivered every morning. I used to eat the multigrain ones plain, but they were still deadly even without the cream cheese, butter or jelly. But beware, often these healthy snacks are not really that healthy and are owned my some larger conglomerate… Check out Food Inc. great flick!
I am the same way with snack foods! If it’s there, I just feel compelled to eat it even though if it weren’t, I wouldnt’ be craving it at all. I love how much of a go-getter you are. Good for you!
