To me, its not quite the holidays unless there is egg nog involved! My whole family loves it. One of the most favorite things we make with egg nog is egg nog milkshakes. Just take about 1/2 cup egg nog, 1/2 cup low fat ice-cream and whip it together. Sprinkle some nutmeg on top and its delish. Until this year, I have never attempted making it myself. This recipe is from a Better Homes and Gardens from 1991! Each 1/2 cup serving is only 99 calories and 1 gram of fat. But, that’s the trick, sticking to a 1/2 cup serving. I could drink a gallon of it!
Ingredients:
4 c Milk, skim
12 oz Milk, evaporated skim
4 ea Eggs, whisked
1/2 c Sugar
1 ts Vanilla
——————————————————————————–
Instructions:
Heat milk, canned milk, eggs, and sugar over medium heat about 10 minutes, until slightly thickened.
Do not boil.
Stir over a bowl of ice water 2 minutes.
Stir in vanilla; cover and chill 4-24 hours.
Add more skim milk if needed to achieve desired consistency.
Top with ground nutmeg just before serving.
Tonight will be our tradition of watching “A Christmas Story” on TV. It will be playing for 24 hours straight on TBS. And hopefully, my husband and I will get a few hours of sleep as we have not done any wrapping yet! No matter how hard I try to get things done ahead of time, we are always wrapping gifts Christmas Eve!
I hope all of your families have a wonderful Holiday! Merry Christmas!
I didn’t have any this year! (Probably the first time ever! — At least that I can remember.)
