I would like you to meet Lindsay! She has done an awesome job losing weight AND keeping it off, the good old fashioned way of moving more and eating better! Wait to you see her transformation!
So, without further ado, here are her answers to my questions!
1). What was your “Aha” moment when you decided you needed to do something about your weight?
After going to the Dr. and getting on the scale and him telling me I weighed 289. He warned me of diabetes and told me with a family history of diabetes I needed to do something about my weight! I left his office bawling. I didn’t ever realize I was that heavy.
2). Had you tried to lose weight in the past – were you successful when you tried? What method did you use to lose weight this time?
I really didn’t know I was over weight and didn’t realize how heavy I was. I looked in the mirror and saw a normal person; I honestly didn’t realize how HEAVY I had gotten. I was so busy being a young mom and raising my family that my health came last. When it should have come first!
To lose my weight I ate healthy and worked out. There is not an “easy” way eating good and exercising is the soul secret. It is an awesome feeling to know that I was the one who got to where I am today without doing anything weird.
3). How long has it taken you to lose the weight so far?
I dropped a lot of weight the first year and a half. Maintained it for over 4 years. I am now at the point that I am ready to loose about 20 more.
4). What keeps you going? Were there times where you wanted to give up?
Oh the way I feel now is AMAZING!!!! That alone keeps me going! I am able to do so many things now that I could have NEVER done overweight. For sure there were times I wanted to give up; the secret to not giving up is taking it day by day and not week by week or month by month slow. Don’t overwhelm yourself or that alone makes you want to quit. Take baby steps.
5). Did you exercise while losing weight, if so, what do you like to do for exercise.
I did exercise. I worked out at a gym 5 days a week. I started with just simple cardio 30 minutes a day. As soon as I dropped some weight, I incorporated weight training and some group fitness classes.
6). Do you track what you eat in calories, points, portions? What types of things do you like to eat now?
When I feel like I start getting out of control I start writing down every single item that enters my mouth. Knowing that you have to write it down, makes you think twice about eating it. Now I love eating fruits, veggies, chicken, turkey sandwiches on yummy whole wheat bread, and protein smoothies are a few of my favorites.
7). What are some tips that have helped you a long the way?
Positive mental attitude, taking it day by day don’t worry about tomorrow until it’s here.
8). Did you have people in your life that weren’t positive towards the changes you were making?
You will find that as you’re eating healthy and talking healthy those around you that are not on the same path as you get annoyed by your new found passion. So you just need to make sure and set boundaries on how often you talk about “you”! Overall everyone was very supportive of me and my changes.
She has started a great blog, so please visit her site often to see what she’s up to!
