When I got home from work, I had already made the announcement I was working out before dinner. It was so nice outside, I decided to talk a brisk 30 minute walk.
Once I told my kids, I was going walking and would be back soon, all three of them chimed in if they could come too! And the Mommy guilt of working all day, just to leave again, I said “Yes!” They got their gym shoes on and we headed out the door.
It was actually a great time! They were talking non-stop about their day, we did some jogging in between walking. “See if you can run to that tree!” they shouted. We were gone about 40 minutes, so I felt like I had a pretty good workout!
By the time we got home it was almost 6:30 so I wanted to make something super quick.
In about 20 minutes, dinner was ready! Chicken with Mrs. dash, sugar snap peas that were frozen in a bag, I microwaved in 3 minutes, and a baked potato, also microwaved! Then I decided to sprinkle some garlic and herb feta cheese over the potato and sugar snap peas.
It definitely hit the spot!
Who knows, my family walk turned out so great, we should do that more often!
Do you get your family involved in your daily exercising??
Looks tasty! What is it about Mrs. Dash that makes things taste so good?
I hate working out. I really do. I find it so boring. I was always active when I was younger – competitive swimmer and water polo player. It’s the team and working out with friends that kept me motivated and into it.
So these days I go to the gym (central London means its difficult to do anything else, plus parks are out cuz its always raining). I try to do the classes like aerobics and yoga. When I work out I do a machine for about 8 minutes max – my short attention span.
My husband is a work out freak (gym 7 days a week!). So his dedication and encouragement gets me to go more than I would alone. It’s much easier when we do a circuit together.
Herbed feta over baked potato. I’m there. Will work out extra for feta.
My best gym buddies are my fiance and sister. They both have different work out styles that keep me going and I def. don’t get bored! Next I’m trying to get my mom to join in – quality time at the gym!
I try to, but it doesn’t always work that way. We all go in cycles.
sounds like a wonderful way to get your workout in!! : )
Yesterday, I took a bike ride with my daughter, Emma–we rode all the way down to the beach (about three miles), then along the bike path on the beach for a few miles, had lunch, then rode back. We were both totally pooped, but if that’s not a perfect day I don’t know what is!
So nice that you exercise with your kids! When I was a teenager my mom and I would often hit the gym together.
Your dinner looks so nice and healthy – I have been on a chicken kick lately but sadly, not doing much cooking! I’ve been getting them premarinated from Whole Foods (I know! I’m a bad food blogger!)
Glad your kids wanted to exercise. Too many kids are stuck in front of the tv, computer, and video games. Great way to get everyone moving! Love the dinner too!
