In my opinion, yes. I use one every single day to weigh cereal, chicken breasts, uncooked pasta, so I know I have one serving, grapes, apples, bagels, bread, etc… I use a scale so I can keep tabs on my portions, but to also make sure I’m getting all that I can too. I don’t want to skimp on my cereal by measuring it in a regular cup and realize I could have had more. I also use it because even after all this time, I still am not a good judge of ounces in meat for example. The other night we grilled out pork-chops and I thought the one I took was about 4 ounces. Turns out it was 7.5 ounces! Those differences can add up to a few hundred calories here and there, which could be preventing you from losing weight because you are counting your points or calories wrong. You can get food scales at Walmart or Target for as little as $10.00. I have an older version of the Weight Watchers scale which works great. But if you stop by a Weight Watchers meeting, (you don’t have to be a member to buy their products) for $40.00 you can buy a deluxe scale that will figure out the points for you for whatever food you are weighing. I love big huge apples, which on Weight Watchers is only 1 point. My friend had this scale and when I put my apple on her scale it was 4 points because it was so huge! So, my point is, if you really want to lose weight, at least in the beginning, a food scale will help you see what an actual portion is, so you are more likely to be successful, see results faster, and continue on your healthy eating path!
