First of all, I would like to thank everyone for your kind wishes about my mother-in-law. It’s been a very long and emotional weekend to say the least! She was a wonderful woman and will be sorely missed!
One of the women who attended her wake/funeral was her cousin Sister Kathleen. She is a Dominican nun in the Sinsinawa order in Wisconsin. She is a real firecracker of a lady. She is my husbands godmother and she knitted my 3 kids their Santa Stockings. She is a wonderful woman and we had a great time talking as she reminisced about growing up with my mother-in-law. I heard stories I never knew about before. As she was leaving from the wake, she told me she brought me a few things from the Sinsinawa Bakery. Part of the way they raise money is through the bakery. I was immediately happy because I knew what that meant. She brought us cinnamon rolls, and cinnamon bread.
I don’t know how to describe the bread. It’s amazing. It tastes creamy if that makes sense. So I knew I would be making french toast with it. I really had to control myself from eating only 2 slices!
If you would like to help these nuns, you can visit their website and order something for the holidays. It’s super cheap too! $3.00 -$5.00 is the average price of their baked goods. Click here to be directed to their site.
So my order of business today? Nothing! I’m going to chillax, stay in my jammies as long as possible and regroup for getting back into my healthy eating plan and back to work tomorrow.
Have a wonderful day Sunday!!
Glad the service went well!
What a wonderful tribute to your mother in law! The rest is well deserved as times like this are emotionally and physically draining. Take care!!!
It’s always so nice to hear new, unexpected stories about loved ones…how wonderful that the sister was able to make the service. Hope you had a restful day and really did stay in your jammies! 🙂
Hi, Jennifer – My sympathies to your family – sorry I did not know about this sooner – we had heard the “Von Ebers” name at St. Edmund’s but I wasn’t sure how you were related.
And I will check out the nuns’ site for good gifts to send to relatives out of town –
Helen
